Services

What we repair

Each one starts the same way: a technician looks, writes it down and tells you the repair and, when it is close, the replacement.

  • Air conditioner repair

Most no-cooling calls are a failed capacitor, contactor, fan motor or a low charge.

    • Warm air from the vents

    • An outdoor unit that won't start or ice on the lines

    • A breaker that keeps tripping

  • Furnace repair

Most no-heat calls are an igniter, a flame sensor, a blower motor or a control board.

    • No heat, or heat that comes and goes

    • A furnace that starts and shuts off

    • New smells or noises

  • Heat pump service

One outdoor unit heats and cools, so we check it in both seasons.

    • Weak heat in cold weather

    • Frost on the outdoor unit that doesn't clear

    • A high bill with no change in use

  • Thermostats and controls

A wrong setting, a dead battery or a failed thermostat is often the whole problem.

    • A screen that is blank or wrong

    • Rooms that never reach the set temperature

  • Seasonal tune-ups

A visit before the first hot or cold week, with what we found in writing.

    • A filter and coil check

    • Pressures and temperatures read

    • A short list of what is wearing

  • Replacement, when it is time

Sized from a load calculation, quoted line by line, permitted and inspected.

    • One quote beside the repair quote

    • Equipment named by model

    • Old system removed

The visit

What happens when we come

  1. 01

    Step 1: We arrive

You know who is coming and about when.

  2. 02

    Step 2: We look

The system is run and read, and the cause is found before anything is replaced.

  3. 03

Step 3: We write it down

Findings and the repair quote, plus a replacement quote when it is close.

  4. 04

    Step 4: You decide

No deadline and no discount that expires at the door.

  5. 05

Step 5: We fix it and test it

The system is run again, and you see it work before we go.

Cost

What moves the price of a repair

No dollars on this page: the number goes in your written quote after the visit.

  • The part

A capacitor and a compressor are different jobs, and the quote names which.

  • Access

An attic, a roof or a crawlspace adds time.

  • Refrigerant

Older systems that use R-22 cost more to recharge, and sometimes it isn't worth it.

  • Age

An older system can fail again, and we say so in the quote.

Questions

Before you book

Will you tell me if my system can't be repaired?

Yes, and we tell you when it can. The quote says which it is and why. If a repair is the better buy, that is the quote we write.

What does the visit involve?

A technician runs the system, reads the pressures and temperatures, checks the thermostat, wiring and the parts that fail first, and writes down what was found. You get the findings whether or not you hire us.

Do you work on every brand?

We work on most major brands of central air, furnaces and heat pumps. If we don't carry a part, we tell you before ordering it.

The air conditioner is running but the house is warm. Where do I start?

Check that the thermostat is set to cool and that the filter is clean. Look at the outdoor unit: if it is iced over, turn the system off and call us. If the breaker keeps tripping, don't reset it again.

Not sure it is worth fixing?

Book a visit and we will tell you, in writing.
